Ray Chen was born in Kingston, Jamaica in 1939, and has pursued an outstanding career in commercial photography for the past 38 years. Internationally recognised and lauded, he has travelled extensively on assignments, including the length and breath of his adopted country, Canada.

Though he has lived and studied abroad for most of his adult life, Jamaica, the island of his birth, retains a tenacious hold on his heart and mind. This can be clearly seen in his two earlier books of pictorial essays of Jamaica - JAMAICA, The Land and the People and the sequel, JAMAICA, The Beauty and the Soul .

On August 6, 2002, the Government of Jamaica conferred the honour of the Order of Distinction in the Rank of Officer (O.D.) for excellence in the field of photography.

Ray and his wife Lin are the proud parents of a son and daughter and at present three grandsons.
